Overview
Current projects focus on retinal degeneration due to inheritance, metabolic disorders, and environmental stress. The selected candidate will work to define both therapeutic targets and the development of novel neuroprotective strategies to rescue degenerating retinal neuronal cells. The successful applicant should be proficient in all major molecular biological techniques, such as protein extraction and estimation, western blotting, qRT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, and isolation and culturing of primary neurons. He/she should also be eager to learn new techniques, such as retinal functional tests and imaging analysis. He/she should have a strong interest and research experience in the field of neuroscience, excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills. The successful applicant should be able to provide evidence of past work or skill sets. PhD or equivalent required.
