FLSA Status: Nonexempt Original Date: December 1990 Last Revision: May 2018 JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the identification of patients in assigned area. Abstracts information from the medical record necessary for the respective registry requirements. Codes diagnoses and procedures in CPT/ICD 9-10 codes. Develops and maintains statistical databases, generates registry reports and maintains respective registry summaries. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Medical terminology course, anatomy and physiology course, and two years of ICD-9/10 coding experience preferred. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Certifications in area of specialty may be required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Maintains a comprehensive listing of admitted patients through careful review of department admission logs and patient census. Ensures confidentiality of registry data. 2. Ensures accuracy registry data. Participates in all inter-rater reliability and data validation activities. 3. Maintains documentation of all registry activity. 4. Provides data and reports to support research, education and associated activities. 5. Maintains current knowledge of registry requirements through collaboration with peers and attendance at all required continuing education. 6. Assists in other aspects of the WFBH departments as deemed appropriate by the manager. 7. Maintains responsibility for keeping self informed about changes in policy/procedure. Participates in departmental educational offerings and staff meetings.
