JOB SUMMARY 

The Research Associate – NCCT CTMC Informatics will be part of a team that provides informatics and evaluation expertise and will report to the Senior Academic Evaluator who oversees the metrics definition, gathering, and evaluation within the Academic core of Advocate health.  This position will support work of the NCCT by tracking clinical trial metrics, designing process, and outcome evaluation protocols related to NCCT function, and will work closely with programmers to develop data visualization tools to drive impact and data-driven decision-making informing NCCT operations and leadership decisions.  

The National Center for Clinical Trials (NCCT) is designed to serve as an innovative platform to revolutionize and catalyze the conduct of clinical trials−greatly accelerating the translation of scientific findings into improvements in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease for our communities and patients. The NCCT will offer core services for patient recruitment and enrollment, trial administration and follow-up, and to gather real world data and evidence. 

The Clinical Trial Methods Center (CTMC) has been established within the Wake Forest University School of Medicine to provide the necessary tools and expertise that the NCCT will access and apply to deliver many of its core services.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Works with NCCT leadership to define key metrics and evaluation needs 
  • Guides implementation of data collection of supporting metrics, including creating or adapting data collection tools and protocols where appropriate 
  • Provide metrics-based reports and present findings to relevant stakeholders and leadership 
  • Provides qualitative and quantitative analysis of all NCCT supporting operations 
  • Work closely with programmers to design dashboards and build infrastructure to monitor metrics, in real-time when necessary 
  • Participate in goal setting and strategic planning for NCCT and CTMC functions 
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience with evaluation design (process, outcomes, logic modeling) 
  • Experience with data visualization (experience in Tableau, Power BI, or comparable program preferred) 
  • Experience in analyzing data using statistical package(s), SAS, SPSS 
  • Ability to collect and analyze qualitative data (experience with facilitation of interviews and focus groups, and use of qualitative data analysis packages such as NVivo or MaxQDA) 
  • Survey design and experience with data collection tools such as REDCap 
  • Ability to organize data and communicate research, evaluations and measurement or statistical concepts to non-statisticians 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including writing in a concise and clear manner for a variety of audiences 
  • Interpersonal and facilitation skills, specifically client and team management skills
  • Familiarity with medical data, standards, and terminology a plus  
  • Familiarity with the clinical trial lifecycle a plus  

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor’s Degree with 5 of years of experience in research and evaluation design (Masters preferred); or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in healthcare or clinical research a plus but not required.
