Such duties do not constitute the practice of medicine. The CMA may prepare patients for exams, provide care needs, administer medication, and assist with specific procedures with appropriate orientation and supervision. Job Specific Duties Patient Education Provides patient education with regard to medications, home treatment, and special diets; Prepares patient for procedure based on reason for visit and assists in procedure as appropriate Equipment & Supplies Demonstrates competency in the proper handling and monitoring of patient related equipment Verification & Documentation Verifies insurance using the best and most cost-effective method for the particular insurance, such as software, payer website, or voice verification; Ensures required documentation regarding patient or procedures is accurate, complete, and legible, properly edited and includes appropriate terminology; Appropriately directs patients to Imaging areas and records patient assessment information as appropriate Physician Assistant Support Prepares and administers medications with physician?s authorization; Performs procedures as ordered and documents appropriately Patient Scheduling Properly schedules patients with appropriate information and verification. Calls patients and/or families regarding scheduled appointments; Assists Customer Care Rep (CCR) with scheduling and reception duties as needed and covers responsibilities in absence of CCR Organization Assures rooms are adequately stocked with supplies and clean linen; Assures rooms are adequately stocked with supplies and clean linen Discrepancy Follow-Up & Assurance Reviews lab reports from referring offices, matches with patient record and takes to clinical staff for review; Obtains a relevant history and/or examination data and evaluates for discrepancies and follows up with physician if necessary; Uses CPR skills when required Professionalism Upholds a professional working relationship at all times and adheres to department rules.
