Overview
Job Summary: Routine activities include the following: receiving medication orders into inventory, filling and delivering pharmacy replenishment orders, assisting customers at the stock window, working with the Medication Strategy Center team on shortage management activities, documenting and preparing wasted or expired medications for return/credit, leading departmental annual inventory, participating in quality and process improvement activities of Purchasing Pharmacy, assisting with loading dock retrieval, filling clinic orders for delivery, and completing other pharmacy technician duties as assigned. Assumes responsibility for inventory management to ensure that quality drug products and supplies are available when needed. This role does involve some repeated bending, pushing of heavy carts, and lifting boxes of fluids. Attends periodic area meetings, required in-services, and skills development courses and maintains technician certification. This individual, like all department employees, will be expected to uphold the hospital’s key values and to be a team player at all times. Will be cross-trained to other areas as needed.

How You’ll Impact Patient Care:
Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Helps pharmacists prepare and process medication orders to make sure patients and departments get the right medications on time and are charged correctly.
- Works well with others and organizes daily tasks for maximum efficiency.
- Helps keep medicine stock in good condition so that quality drugs and supplies are always available.
- Offers pharmacy services in patient care areas.
- Takes part in team efforts to improve quality and supports the Pharmacy Department's commitment to Total Quality principles.
- Keeps knowledge and skills up to date and helps educate others.
- Sets personal goals to support quality improvement and departmental objectives.
- Follows hospital standards to create a positive work environment through good communication, relationships, and teamwork.
- Provides care tailored to different age groups as per Age Specific Care Guidelines.
What You Will Need
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Nice To Have (Not Required)
- Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technology course preferred.
- One-year previous pharmacy experience preferred.
- PTCB technician certification (CPhT) preferred.
- North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration required within 30 days of employment.
- PTCB/NHA technician certification (CPhT) within 180 days of employment or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited Pharmacy School.
