Overview

Job Summary:

Provides customer service by handling switchboard calls, updating contact information, and managing on-call schedules. Assists Customer Service Representatives with service requests. Requires flexibility for all shifts, weekends, holidays, and severe weather coverage.

Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years in a customer service role, with problem-solving experience in high-stress situations.
  • High call volume experience and medical environment experience preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Answers calls courteously, identifies caller needs, and resolves concerns.
  2. Provides after-hours answering service for clinics and pages on-call physicians as needed.
  3. Updates contact information for multiple campuses.
  4. Maintains on-call schedules and resolves discrepancies.
  5. Assists with after-hours pathology calls, documenting sensitive information.
  6. Dispatches service requests (transport, housekeeping, engineering) and escalates as needed.
  7. Performs additional tasks as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Clear, calm phone communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills; ability to multitask across software systems
  • Typing speed of 45 WPM

  • Clean, well-lit, moderate noise
  • Subject to interruptions and stress
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent sitting, with occasional standing and walking
  • Lifting up to 20 lbs
