Overview

JOB SUMMARY:  

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background in clinical operations and implementation projects, particularly within the PCORI HSII (Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute - Health Systems Implementation Initiative) framework. The role involves overseeing multiple complex clinical implementation projects, ensuring effective execution, and achieving project goals. A specific focus initially will be on the management and implementation of the Atrium health – Childrens Outpatient Optimal Stewardship (AH-CHOOS) or similar projects, requiring deep knowledge of healthcare systems, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence in a clinical research environment.

The Senior Project Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including clinical operations, researchers, and healthcare professionals, to implement evidence-based interventions across health systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of healthcare operations, project management methodologies, and a proven track record of managing large-scale clinical projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Lead the implementation of PCORI HSII-funded projects such as AH-CHOOS, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
  2. Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders including clinicians, researchers, and health system partners.
  3. Ensure successful project delivery by driving project planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation.
  4. Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, risk mitigation, and budget management.
  5. Ensure that implementation practices adhere to clinical operations standards and regulatory guidelines.
  6. Oversee the coordination and collaboration of cross-functional teams to ensure the timely and efficient achievement of project milestones.
  7. Collaborate with healthcare systems, clinical staff, and research teams to ensure that project goals are aligned with clinical practices and patient-centered outcomes.
  8. Facilitate communication between internal and external stakeholders to support project implementation and resolve any issues that arise.
  9. Present project updates, performance metrics, and outcomes to sponsors, executives, and other key stakeholders.
  10. Track and monitor project progress using performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  11. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for project sponsors, steering committees, and senior management.
  12. Ensure compliance with PCORI requirements and clinical research best practices.
  13. Proactively identify project risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  14. Address project-related issues promptly to ensure minimal disruption to clinical operations and patient 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a health-related field.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in project management software tools.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Prior experience with health system interventions and large-scale implementation projects.
  • Familiarity with PCORI HSII-funded initiatives and their goals of integrating research into healthcare delivery systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Each teammate has the responsibility to work in a safe manner. Work requires frequent moving from one area to another, coordinating, and communicating with persons in various disciplines and agencies. Frequent walking, standing and climbing may be required.
