Overview
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the development and implementation of the communications strategy across all platforms for the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM) and its ecosystem. Oversees creation of informational, marketing and editorial copy. Collaborates with WFIRM and ecosystem leaders, subject matter experts and other members of the team to research, write and edit various content. Reports to the WFIRM Director.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Journalism, English, Communications or equivalent field with three years of professional experience in writing and editing content required. Experience writing in a research and/or business/technology setting preferred. Strong and proven understanding
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops, implements and evaluates a multi-channel communication strategy for WFIRM and its ecosytem.
- Manages the distribution and maintenance of internal and external content, including newsletters, brochures, social media communication and press releases. Writes informative and promotional copy for marketing efforts.
- Creates concise, informative and engaging copy that meets journalistic standards, utilizes search engine optimization techniques and is consistent with the tone and style of the organization. Sources photographs and graphics to accompany written articles and other content pieces.
- Translates and synthesizes scientific and technical work into accessible language for a wide variety of constituents.
- Implements and suggests multimedia strategies in accordance with WFIRM’s goals.
- Establishes and maintains WFIRM’s standards for style, tone and quality of content as well as guidelines to ensure that those standards are met.
- Measures engagement and organizational awareness, using data to drive decision-making.
- Partners with and guides the WFIRM social media and marketing team, working to develop content in a collaborative environment.
- Manages media relations, scheduling interviews and preparing information for media outlets in a timely manner.
- Communicates effectively with senior members of WFIRM and other professionals from all levels of the organization.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Exceptional attention to detail, with excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation and copy-editing skills
- Good organizational skills to collate material from multiple sources and produce variety types of content within tight deadlines
- Excellent computer literacy skills and experience with content management and social media platforms
- Proven ability to work as a team member and interact effectively with personnel at all levels of an organization
- Basic Adobe Creative Cloud skills
