Overview

Job Summary:

Provides excellent customer service by taking orders and preparing food according to customer preferences. Primarily responsible for short-order/grill cooking and following recipes to prepare a variety of dishes, including soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts. Uses kitchen equipment for tasks like measuring, mixing, cutting, and trimming ingredients. Ensures proper food quantities are prepared, maintains records, and may handle special diet requests. Follows sanitation rules and keeps workstations clean.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience in food service, preferably in food production.

License/Certification:

  • None required.

Essential Functions:

  1. Follows hospital and department policies to maintain a cooperative work environment.
  2. Strives to provide excellent customer service and high-quality meals.
  3. Ensures a high sanitation rating by following cleaning policies and meeting Sodexo standards.
  4. Monitors food quality and ensures compliance with recipes and guidelines.
  5. Adheres to safety and sanitation rules, completing daily cleaning tasks.
  6. Completes required training, including food preparation, safety, and compliance.
  7. Supports department performance improvement and teamwork.
  8. Minimizes waste and follows portion control to manage food and supplies effectively.
  9. Plans daily tasks to ensure meals are served on time, adjusting as needed.
  10. Prepares food using standardized recipes, logs leftovers, and follows food safety guidelines.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Fluent in English and able to follow instructions.
  • Ability to use cooking equipment and follow recipes.
  • Able to work in varying temperatures, from hot cooking areas to cold freezers.
  • Flexible with department needs and committed to high customer service.
  • Willing to work weekends and holidays.
  • Good communication with patients, visitors, and staff.

Work Environment:

  • Works in both kitchen and retail areas.
  • May encounter wet floors and sharp equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
