Overview
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of a Pharmacy Operational Coordinator, coordinates activities, leads staff and manages systems for assigned areas to ensure that quality pharmaceutical care and services are provided to meet or exceed the reasonable needs and expectations of customers.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Completion of a formal technician training program with three years of pharmacy experience preferred. Associate's degree in Healthcare or Business related field preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
PTCB technician certification (CPhT) required. North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration as a pharmacy technician required within 30 days of employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Coordinates technician workflow for assigned areas to ensure customer needs are met or exceeded. 2. Monitors the utilization, quantity, quality and cost of resources and output in the areas of responsibility. 3. Coordinates staffing activities and supervises technician staff of the assigned areas. 4. Participates in process management. 5. Participates in the team approach to quality improvement to support the Pharmacy Department's commitment to the philosophy and principles of Total Quality. 6. Updates knowledge and skills of self and other health care professionals to maintain, improve and document competency. 7. Participates in planning processes by establishing personal goals to support quality improvement efforts and contribute to the achievement of departmental objectives. 8. Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient care is provided in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served. 9. Represents the Department and the Hospital. 10. Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrates the ability to perform all duties of Technician I and II Strong emphasis on basic math skills Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written Ability to talk with patients/caregivers and others to obtain and provide information in a professional manner Solid typing and computer skills including Word, Excel, etc. Good organizational skills Leadership skills and ability Ability to plan, organize and prioritize workflow and activities Ability to train, supervise, and participate in evaluating employees Must be able to work a flexible schedule Must be knowledgeable of policies and procedures
