Overview
JOB SUMMARY:
Under administrative review, plans, develops, manages, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the activities/operations for an off-site clinical center that includes supervision responsibilities for a clinical staff of ten or more.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and four years nursing experience, two years of which must have been at the administrative and/or supervisory level; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
- Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of North Carolina required.
- BLS required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Monitors Triage workflow. Resource nurse for Triage staff.
- Develops protocols for Triage to standardize care provided for patients.
- Communicates and collaborates with the Clinical Quality Administrator and Medical Director for Infectious Disease.
- Monitors nursing educational requirements of Triage staff to maintain competency and increase knowledge of our patient population.
- Communicates and coordinates with additional, related health care providers, entities and community agencies in managing patient care knowledge of resource management, IDSC clinical and quality guidelines.
- Uses prudent nursing judgment to assess and determine the appropriateness of medication refills, priority of patient medical and psychosocial concerns and needs, initiates timely collaboration with related clinical staff and medical providers in meeting patient health needs, determining the necessity of urgent patient care clinical visits.
- Manages routine and urgent care patient schedules.
- Manages and oversees telephone triage clinical guidelines in collaboration with Medical Director and Clinical Quality Administrator.
- Tracks, follows-up and evaluates client referrals and services coordination in conjunction with related program staff.
- Works collaboratively in Clinical Quality Management efforts and activities with the Clinical Quality Administrator, participates in quality committee activities through quality improvement projects, including patient referral tracking and follow-up evaluation.
- Collaborates with clinical trials unit research projects as needed in conjunction with clinical trials/research director and clinical trials coordinators.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good oral, written, and interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care
- Must display positive attitude with good customer service skills
- Excellent computer skills with the capacity to learn electronic medical record and scheduling systems quickly
- Highly organized with the capacity for multitasking in a fast paced environment
- Familiarity with dealing with cultural issues in diverse, underserved population
