Overview

Handles patient appointments in a clinical setting, providing professional and courteous assistance. Responsible for accurate messaging, scheduling, and phone support. Ensures timely processing of patient requests. Escalates issues to a regional supervisor when necessary.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of office or customer service experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of medical terminology and bilingual in Spanish.

Licensure/Certification

  • Must pass a data entry test.

Essential Functions

  1. Uses computer programs to schedule, update, and cancel appointments.
  2. Ensures accurate registration, billing, and authorization records.
  3. Collaborates with coworkers to meet department goals, including call response rates.
  4. Screens calls, communicates messages clearly, and coordinates with clinical departments.
  5. Assists with completing forms and maintains knowledge of insurance documentation.
  6. Contributes to improving customer service and solving problems.
  7. Acts as a helpful liaison between patients, medical staff, and external agencies.
  8. Performs additional duties as assigned.
