The Chief Neuropsychologist is responsible for the operational management of the Neuropsychologists, Assessment-focused Psychologists, and Psychometrists within the Division. Working with the Department leader and the Chief Pediatric Psychologist, the Chief Neuropsychologist oversees clinical staffing, scheduling, performance, and teammate management for the practice.

 

Experience

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in direct assessment and care of children with complex medical and neurologic conditions
  • 5 years of experience in program development and/or leadership in a pediatric hospital or health care setting
  • Experience in employee management, performance coaching, and operations management

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of experience in direct assessment and care of children with complex medical and neurologic conditions

Education

  • Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology or Doctor of Psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA)/Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) accredited program
  • Completion of a formal one-year pre-doctoral internship at an American Psychological Association (APA)/Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) accredited program, preferably with an emphasis in Neuropsychology
  • Completion of a formal two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology, with an emphasis in pediatrics, at a program accredited by the Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN) and conforming to the Houston Conference guidelines for training in Clinical Neuropsychology

Certification Summary

  • Board certified in Clinical Neuropsychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology --Clinical Neuropsychology (ABPP-CN), (with subspecialty board certification in Pediatric Neuropsychology preferred), American Board of Professional Neuropsychology (ABN), or American Board of Pediatric Neuropsychology (ABPdN)
  • Licensed Psychologist or eligible for licensure in the state of North Carolina

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in neuropsychological assessments and treatments of children, adolescents, and young adults
  • Excellent customer service, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, innovative, and able to use creative approaches to find solutions to systemic barriers 

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversees the administrative, clinical, quality, research, and training activities for assessment in the Division
  • Leads in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and assessment services
  • Works with departmental business and clinical leaders to ensure operational collaboration and oversight of departmental program, policies, and practices to promote the delivery of safe patient care
  • Fosters a collegial environment that supports the successful recruitment, retention, and development of outstanding providers and staff
  • Provides clinical care and supports providers in cardiology, oncology, neurology, and developmental and behavioral pediatrics 
  • Evaluates the performance of the team, ensuring that goals and professional standards are met or exceeded
  • Participates in activities and initiatives of the practicum training program training programs
