Overview

Job Summary
Prepares and delivers food trays to patients, processes meal requests and diet orders, and provides prompt, accurate service to customers. Interacts with patients, employees, medical staff, and customers both in person and over the phone. Uses the hospital's computer system to manage orders and deliver nourishment.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Certifications

  • None required.

Experience

  • 2+ years in food service preferred.

Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, food prep, and equipment.
  • Ability to handle moderately heavy physical tasks.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic math for cash handling.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to multitask and solve problems.

Job Duties

  • Assists with food preparation (cold food, baking, grill).
  • Transports food items.
  • Prepares food trays based on meal tickets.
  • Cleans and sanitizes kitchen areas and dishes.
  • Delivers and returns trays to and from patient rooms.
  • Enters patient diet and meal orders into the computer.
  • Delivers nourishment supplies to units.
  • Operates the cash register and handles payments.
  • Resolves customer complaints or escalates to supervisors.

Workplace Requirements

  • Physical tasks include standing, walking, kneeling, lifting, and pushing.
  • Medium physical effort required (lifting up to 50 lbs).
  • Visual and communication abilities needed for interaction with staff and patients.
