JOB SUMMARY: 

Renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patient. Provides direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation). Directs and supervises other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards of care. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. 
  • Minimum of one year Operating Room experience or participation in a post-graduate program required.
  • Refresher course required for nurses who have not worked in an Operating Room for five years or more. 

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: 

  • Current licensures to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina and 
  • BCLS required. 
  • CNOR preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Communicates professionally and effectively with the health care team, patients and family /visitors.
  • Promotes a safe and healthy working environment by utilizing clear communication, collaboration and teamwork.
  • Utilizes the nursing process and adheres to policies/procedures/guidelines to ensure efficient, appropriate and safe patient care. Documents care accurately in EMR.
  • Provides appropriate teaching and direction for patients and family through consideration of age, physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious and environmental needs. 
  • Provides age/developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
