Overview

Job Summary

Assists EMS Operations Leadership with planning, organizing and directing daily emergency medical service operations. Supervises the medical care administered during multi-unit and multi-agency responses at emergency medical scenes. Performs functions of a Paramedic.



Essential Functions

  • Supervises and coordinates the emergency medical service operation on an assigned shift or specialty.
  • Ensures that all equipment is in working condition, that material and supplies on each vehicle are ample and that each mobile unit is staffed with qualified personnel.
  • Assigns and schedules EMTs, Advanced EMTs and Paramedics to ensure adequate staffing models.
  • Assists in the interview process, on boarding and orientation of new Teammates as requested.
  • Evaluates, documents and counsel employees regarding their job performance.
  • Responds to emergency calls and performs necessary medical care and procedures as a Paramedic.
  • Coordinates on scene medical activities of EMS personnel and first responders.
  • Coordinates and oversees assigned special duties, committees and teams as assigned by EMS Leadership.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to operate a variety of vehicles and equipment as required to meet the essential job functions of an EMS provider. Must be able to exert up to 200 pounds of force occasionally, and or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects and or people. Requires the ability to coordinate eyes and hands at a normal speed and accurately in using medical equipment and performing procedures. Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as emergency medical equipment and supplies. Requires eye/hand/foot coordination and the ability to communicate via different means
