Data Entry Operator III, Comparative Medicine

25 hours per week, day shift

Currently seeking to fill a part-time data entry position. This position will require approximately 25 hours per week and requires strong attention to detail and a high level of quality. The individual with work with individuals in the Section of Comparative Medicine Data Services Unit (DSU), as well as researchers and lab technicians within the Section. 

The DSU works with Investigators to ensure research data is recorded and stored within the research-use animal records system named CARS (Comprehensive Animal Record System). The current team of three individuals manages data associated with 778 non-human primates, 52 non-human primate protocols, 20 active RS/1 projects and a growing area of LabKey data management. 

JOB SUMMARY: Performs maintenance and processing of data and records to include entering data by keyboard and verifying information on a video display terminal. Reports any charge code issues to Op Time for review. Responsible for handling faculty and clinical staff questions and correspondence related to electronic notifications and/or emails generated. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED equivalent with two years computer experience. Epic experience preferred. 

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: N/A 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

1. Generates and reviews OR schedule to complete daily reconciliation of charges batched for coding. 

2. Reviews Open Encounter Report daily and close any completed cases. Responsible for communicating with all clinical staff any missing or incomplete documentation via in-basket notification within Epic. 

3. Maintains a detailed 'Missing Documentation List' of missing/incomplete data by provider daily and month-end reporting purposes. 

4. Responsible for handling clinical staff questions and correspondence related to electronic notification/emails generated related to charges. 

5. Investigates any missing Hospital facility charges for AHWFB, LMC, or DMC that do not automatically route into the coding work queue for data entry and resolves the issue. 

6. Performs a variety of clerical tasks to include receiving, reviewing, verifying information reflecting registration, charges, laboratory tests, or non-patient information. 

7. Obtains additional information when records or billing forms are incomplete and update records accordingly. 

8. Enters information into system, purges information as necessary to maintain accurate records and billing. 

9. Distribute reports by department, as required. 

10. Screens, sorts, and distributes billing forms. 

11. Organizes work activities by assigning priorities to ensure completion within established guidelines. 

12. Performs other related duties incidental to work described herein.
