Job Summary

Supervises and coordinates facility activities with emphasis upon communications, resident throughput, patient experience, rounding for quality, safety and operational efficiency, performance improvement activities, service recovery, and compliance with regulatory requirements interacting with nursing and facility teammates in daily operations. Authorized to act as the administrative designee on behalf of and in cooperation with Administration responding to immediate needs or as requested by the Administrator-On-Call to investigate or respond to requests for information, follow-up or assistance with complaint investigations or emergency events. Promotes a safe environment and performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. Maintains clinical and professional competency in the supervision of resident care.



Essential Functions

  • Rounds on all units to assess overall efficiency and productivity and gain insight into resident care, teammate, and physician satisfaction and appropriateness of resident care.
  • Functions as a clinical resource/liaison by assisting nursing personnel with assignment and organization of unit/resident care activities, evaluation of resident care and problem solving to meet resident care needs.
  • Guides the staff in understanding and compliance with state and federal laws concerning healthcare services and practice, compliance with the Nursing Practice Act, and policies and procedures of the System.
  • Functions as a team member to accomplish goals and objectives of the clinical units and the organization, upholding quality management, resident care, and departmental standards.
  • Demonstrates competence in the application of principles of management and clinical supervision.
  • Assists nurse leaders as needed with coordination of communication at regular intervals throughout the shifts via huddles, rounds, or other types of meetings to exchange information and promote dialogue.
  • Delegates elements of care to appropriate healthcare workers in accordance with any applicable legal or policy parameters or principles.
  • Promotes shared governance and decision making activities, developing and nurturing research to positively affect clinical outcomes and promotion.

 

Physical Requirements
Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling residents, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak and understand English fluently. Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Finger dexterity. Physical abilities testing required. Critical thinking and ability to concentrate. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in resident and / or unit/department conditions. Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.



Education, Experience and Certifications

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Current RN license in the state in which you work and reside or; if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as your primary state of residency, meet the licensure requirements in your home state; or for Non-National License Compact states, current RN license required in the state where the RN works. BLS required per policy guidelines. Two years nursing experience preferred, preferably in long-term care. BSN preferred. Certification in gerontological nursing preferred. Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required within the department by the nurse leader.
