Overview

Community Engagement Program Manager III Position

The Program Manager III serving the Wake Forest University School of Medicine CTSA Community Engagement team will provide management-level oversight, planning, implementation, and coordination to multiple projects. Will contribute to thought leadership and operational planning for Community Engagement work. The Wake Forest University School of Medicine is the Academic Core for Advocate Health. The Wake Forest Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) is a $5M/year infrastructure grant funded by the National Institutes of Health. The CTSI Community Engagement Program aims to improve health research through patient and community engagement, to promote and facilitate community-relevant and -engaged research, to increase research participation from communities traditionally underrepresented in research, and to improve health equity. Services provided by CTSI Community Engagement include consultation to faculty, the provision of education and tools for patient and community engagement, and an affinity group of team members who conduct community-engaged research. This position reports to the Administrative Program Director for the CTSI Community Engagement team, and will work collaboratively with all of the teams in the CTSA.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Independently lead planning and design for select projects, and also lead operationalization into concrete activities and tasks for project implementation. Sets priorities for project implementation.
  2. Independently lead projects such as the design and identification of educational trainings and resources for faculty, on a variety of topics.
  3. Serve as a resource to faculty and staff service requests and other requests for guidance and improved strategy in various topic areas, including the following: community engagement, patient engagement, community engaged research, accessible language for effective engagement, and strategy for increasing participation of underrepresented minorities in research.
  4. Lead and support projects such as the development of clinical research networks for improved delivery of primary care, and patient and community health.
  5. Lead and support operationalizing of team goals such as patient-focused community health and education initiatives and projects.
  6. Develop and maintain timelines for the completion of tasks related to the implementation and evaluation of a given project or initiative and identify key milestones that would indicate successful implementation.
  7. Contribute to the development and implementation of strategy for establishing relationships with key community partners. This includes internal and external institutional healthcare provider leaders, community-based organization leaders, regional government and health and human service leaders.
  8. Prepare informational material about individual programs and initiatives and prepare summary reports of program activities.
  9. Serve as point of contact for select projects, independently prepare and deliver presentations on work as needed.
  10. Represent programs and initiatives to key audiences within our institution, to other sites within our health system, to community-based organizations within our service area, and to regional and national collaborators and audiences.
  11. Develop systems of organization and alignment of work within the Community Engagement team, within the CTSA team, within the institution, with local and regional, state, and enterprise-wide efforts.
  12. Take responsibility for reporting on select team projects.
  13. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

 

Education/Experience

Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Social Sciences or related field with experience. Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience will be considered. Experience preferred in clinical research and clinical partnerships and/or the development of web-based trainings for research faculty. Spanish-English bilingual candidates, with advanced reading and writing skills in both languages, are encouraged to apply.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Hybrid according to needs of team. Clean, well-lit office environment 3 days a week, 2 days a week remote work. There are occasions which may require less remote work, or work or travel outside of the office for community engagement, including work evenings and weekends.
