Overview

JOB SUMMARY: The Pharmacy Business Specialist is responsible for ensuring quality control of the 340B business operations of the pharmacy department at Wake Forest Baptist.  Under the direction of the 340B Program Manager, the Specialist performs a variety of duties including the following:

  • Perform quality assurance audits to ensure compliance with the 340B program and maximize financial opportunities.
  • Prepare and analyze audit and financial reports.
  • Monitor, report, and analyze contract pharmacy data.
  • Work with inpatient, outpatient, and retail pharmacy leadership to identify and resolve compliance issues.
  • Maintain and manage the split-billing software and ensure data integrity.
  • Maintain knowledge of 340B rules and regulations and interrelated subjects (i.e., medical billing)
  • Educate staff on 340B program and provide training for compliance tools.

How You’ll Impact Patient Care:

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs weekly and monthly quality assurance audits to ensure compliance with the 340(B) program and maximize financial opportunities. 
  • Prepares and analyzes audit reports for presentation to the 340(B) Operations Committee. 
  • Works with inpatient, outpatient, and retail pharmacy leadership to identify and resolve compliance issues. 
  • Obtains and maintains knowledge of 340(B) program and all interrelated subjects (such as medical billing). 
  • Educates pharmacy staff on 340(B) program and provides training for compliance tools. 
  • Assists in other auditing and monitoring activities including controlled substance purchasing and distribution, and NDC management for general drug spend oversight. 
  • Completes required training, as assigned, within the established timeframes. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

What You Will Need

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, Business, Accounting, or Finance and 1 year experience with pharmacy systems, analytics, accounting, logistics or operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PTCB/NHA technician certification (CPhT) required.
  • North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration as a pharmacy technician required within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Have (Not Required)

  • Successful completion of a formal technician training program preferred.
  • One-year previous pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Associate degree in a healthcare or business-related field preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare or hospital environment preferred. 
  • Experience with 340(B) program, inventory control or purchasing preferred.
  • Previous inventory control/purchasing experience preferred.
