In this pivotal role, you will provide essential support to elective surgery patients while serving as a key liaison between surgeons, anesthesia teams, physicians, and families. Position Highlights:

  • Location: Clemmons Outpatient Surgery – Clemmons, NC
  • Shift Schedule: 4-10 hour shifts per week, Monday-Friday. No nights, weekends or call
  • About Our Practice: We are a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center with three operating rooms dedicated to providing comprehensive preoperative and postoperative care for both adult and pediatric patients.

Job Summary: Provides professional support to all elective surgery services patients within the WFBMC and serves as a liaison between surgeons, anesthesia team, primary physicians, consulting physicians, the patient and their families. Assists surgical patients in overcoming barriers within the healthcare system to ensure timely comprehensive pre-operative surgery information and postoperative care information. Evaluates patient's situation against hospital policies and insurance company's standards to determine appropriate location of patient procedure. 

This position may also work as a PostOp/Postoperative staff nurse depending on staffing needs for adult and pediatric patients.

 

What You’ll Need:

  • Graduate from accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred. 
  • Minimum three years' nursing experience required. Surgical patient care experience preferred. 
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina 

 

What You’ll Do: 

  1. Provide patient/family centered care, acting as a partner/adviser. Assist and support patients/families to manage their health care optimally, respecting their culture and values, individual needs, health goals and treatment preference. 
  2. Compare patient medical records to established criteria and confers with medical and nursing personnel and other professional staff to determine appropriateness of treatment and location of procedure. 
  3. Apply critical reasoning and astute clinical judgment in order to expedite appropriate care and treatment, especially given that the patient may have complex problems or potentially life threatening conditions. 
  4. Facilitate continuity of care using the nursing process, multidisciplinary collaboration, and coordination of appropriate health care services and community resources across the care continuum. Interact with patients during face-to-face encounters or through a variety of telecommunication strategies, often establishing long-term relationships. 
  5. Apply the provisions of the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses to their own professional obligations and for the patients entrusted to their care. Participate in professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings. Demonstrate the ability to function in a professional setting through active participation in a professional practice model. Includes participating in shared governance, adherence to standards of care, participation in peer review and professional development promoting leadership and clinical excellence, effective team skills, autonomous practice and acknowledgment of accountability for actions and critical thinking. 
  6. Focus on patient safety and the quality of nursing care by applying appropriate nursing interventions, such as identifying and clarifying patient needs, performing procedures, conducting health education, promoting patient advocacy, coordinating nursing and other health services, assisting the patient to navigate the health care system, and evaluating patient outcomes. 
  7. Provide leadership in the clinical setting and provides operational accountability for and coordination of nursing services, including the appropriate skill mix and delegation of roles and responsibilities for licensed and unlicensed nursing personnel. 
  8. Design, administer, and evaluate nursing services within the organization in accord with relevant federal requirements, state laws and nurse practice acts, regulatory standards, and institutional policies and procedures. 
  9. Participate in regular team meetings and continuous quality improvement activities. 
  10. Maintain knowledge of care teams for coordination of patient care, self-management, population management and communication skill.

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions 
  • Demonstrate working knowledge and completion of appropriate TJC and other regulatory requirements
