Staff Pharmacist, Specialty Pharmacy Services

Overview

JOB SUMMARY: Work as a member of the Specialty Pharmacy Team to provide pharmaceutical care to patients receiving specialty medications. This pharmacist will be an active participant in growth initiatives across the spectrum.  Interdisciplinary engagement and establishment of new service lines is within the scope of this position and this pharmacist will contribute to the care of all specialty patient populations. The pharmacist will provide education to specialty patients. In the pharmacy, this pharmacist will facilitate efficient drug distribution and preparation of medications to patients served.  This pharmacist will assist in managing the activities of a team of pharmacy technicians, verify orders, serve as a drug information resource for patients, nurses and medical staff, and maintain skills and knowledge by attending required educational in-services and skills development classes.  This pharmacist will also participate in quality improvement and strategic planning activities which promote optimal patient care, teamwork, and shared key values.

How You’ll Impact Patient care:

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Process medication orders and prescriptions from physicians and nurses.
• Supervise technicians to ensure timely and accurate medication dispensing, optimizing staff utilization.
• Deliver pharmaceutical care for optimal patient outcomes.
• Contribute to quality improvement efforts through teamwork.
• Continuously update and document skills and knowledge.
• Maintain documentation for compliance with standards and regulations.
• Set personal goals to support departmental objectives.
• Provide age-appropriate care following guidelines.
• Foster a cooperative work environment through effective communication and teamwork.

What You Will Need:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) is required.
• Current state pharmacist license in good standing through North Carolina Board of Pharmacy is required.

Nice To Have (Not Required):

• Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency or equivalent clinical experience.
• Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner (CPP) or application for licensure will be initiated following employment.
• Board certification or advanced credentialing (e.g. BCACP, BCPS, CDE) is preferred.
