Overview

JOB SUMMARY: Performs duties of moderate complexity, judgement, and scope in coordinating and managing all aspects related to insurance benefit information, authorization, billing, and collections for all types of services. Will serve as a resource to patients and their families, clinical staff, physicians, and insurance companies. Will work daily with drug manufacturers to coordinate shipment of medications for patients as well as processing reimbursement to patient accounts from drug manufacturers.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field or 5 years of insurance related experience required.  
  • 1 to 3 years of pharmacy experience required. 
  • Must obtain national Pharmacy Technician Certification within 1 year of hire date. 
  • Must register yearly with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.

Nice to Have (Not Required):

  • 1 to 2 years of reimbursement experience in a hospital setting is preferred. 

How You’ll Impact Patient Care:

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Coordinates and manages the billing and collection functions for all commercial payor types regarding reimbursement from drug manufacturers.
  2. Notifies physician offices of approval periods, identifies and monitors accounts, determines correct reimbursement, following up on claim status, performs regular account maintenance, collects, and distributes Copayment reimbursements appropriately.
  3. Research insurance benefits to determine what assistance the patient may qualify for through the drug manufacturers.
  4. Works with patients and develops resolutions to potential patient financial out-of-pocket exposure and helps them plan and overcome these obstacles.
  5. Verifies and monitors coverage and other medical benefits.
  6. Ensures that all payor approvals are always current.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.
