Overview

JOB SUMMARY:

Maintains security equipment operation and efficiency by installing and maintaining electronic controls and devices. Works in assistance to, and takes direction from, the Security Systems Coordinator.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree or two years' experience with security related communications, alarm systems, and equipment or related field;

or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Training in security related systems and computer interface preferred.
  • Training specific to or directly related to communication equipment, closed circuit television systems, and card access software preferred.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:

  • RS2 Access Control system administrator certification preferred.
  • Security low voltage certification preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building. Follows hospital/departmental policies and procedures. Contributes to the overall quality of services. Assumes responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures.

2. Works with Security Systems Coordinator to program the access control system. Programs new installed doors and alarms. Programs door and alarm schedules. Performs server maintenance and manages links to other Medical Center databases. Writes and maintains reports in the access control system. Provides project management when needed.

3. Maintains Access Control server with the assistance from IT, reporting to Security Systems Coordinator. Troubleshoots server issues, repairs system troubles, installs new software patches and version upgrades, Works with system developers to improve system operations, provides system programming and area scheduling, writes and maintains software to achieve optimum system performance.

4. Tests and ensures appropriate function of security access and panic alarm systems by working with the Security Systems Coordinator. Assists in the Preventive Maintenance of the Access Control System. Works with system vendors and end user departments to ensure testing is performed without interrupting workflow.

5. Responsible for analog and IP camera and server applications. Responsible for updating analog and IP camera software with new revisions and patches. Works with the Security Systems Coordinator to isolate and correct problems. Documents occurrences as needed.

6. Maintains server applications for ECOMM, Ticket Database and assist with Telex Software. Responsible for updates to all ECC software systems. Works with IT to obtain IP addresses, mac addresses and monitor port activity. Documents occurrences as needed. Provides training/re-training on software and hardware devices to end users.

7. Collects and compiles data, statistics, and materials for reports, budgets, and projects. Researches sources to gather requested or needed information. Compiles data in the established format. Produces reports of gate arm incidents and unauthorized access occurrences. Prints photos from card access system as requested.

8. Tests and ensures appropriate function of all ECC and Security software. Writes and maintains software to achieve required system functions.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of electronic troubleshooting
