Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is seeking full-time, Nights, New Grad RNs for our Intermediate Care Residency at Wilkes Medical Center, located in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. A New Graduate Nurse is either a current nursing student nearing graduation from an RN program or a recent graduate with less than six months of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse. 

 

Position Highlights 

  • Sign-on Bonus: Night Shift Up to $25,000 for qualified positions!  
  • Unit: The 16-bed Intermediate Care Unit has a 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio with 2 full-time NAs for days and nights, plus a mid-shift NA. It provides closer monitoring for adults (18-60+) with conditions like Afib and alcohol withdrawals, higher level of oxygen such as BPAP appropriate patients but not ventilators, and no insulin drips. The unit features shared mobility tech, a free charge nurse, and central telemonitoring.
  • Facility: Wilkes Medical Center, a community hospital in North Wilkesboro, NC, combines the expertise of a globally recognized academic medical center with 120 acute care beds and 10 skilled nursing beds, offering exceptional, accredited health care close to home. 
  • Residency Program: New Graduate RNs at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist receive supportive training led by dedicated nurse educators, including clinical orientation, specialty-specific learning, and skill-building in clinical decision-making, teamwork, communication, and career development.

Job Summary

The New Graduate Nurse provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). They lead and direct other assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice.   

 

What You’ll Need 

  • Less than 6 months of RN experience  
  • Graduation from accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred. 
  • Registered Nurse licensure from the State of North Carolina Board of Nursing 
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required  
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of hire, per unit guidelines  
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 1 year of hire, per unit guidelines
