Overview

Job Summary

Assists the registered pharmacists in performing a variety of technical duties related to the preparation and distribution of drugs and executes administrative duties related to the operations of the department. Supervises activities of Technician I, II, and III. All duties are performed under the supervision of a pharmacy manager or supervisor.



Essential Functions
 

  • Possesses critical thinking skills and embraces change, develops teammates to be confident, professional, and creative, and identifies opportunities, barriers, and alternative solutions to achieve directives and performance indicator achievement.
  • Researches team member complaints, identifies corrective actions, and improves internal procedures to minimize errors and increase engagement and teamwork.
  • Addresses team member issues involving efficiency, poor interactions, and coworker conflicts and works with the team member to improve, set performance milestones, and provides feedback with objective expectations for improvement.
  • Evaluates and delivers probationary evaluations, assists in development of Individual Development Plans(IDP) and annual evaluations to team members.

 

Physical Requirements
 

 

Works primarily in the pharmacy. Delivers medications to nursing units. Requires considerable walking, standing, pushing mobile cart of 50 pounds maximum and lifting 25 pounds of material. May be required to frequently stretch, bend, squat, or kneel to perform job. Utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize exposure to hazardous agents. Takes necessary precautions to avoid inadvertent needle sticks, minor cuts or bruises. Exposed to various conditions throughout the workday such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs and changes in temperature and humidity. Must be able to perform manipulative skills such as writing, typing, and data entry into the computer and automated dispensing machines. Must have use of both hands, be able to see clearly and read small type such as that on unit-dose medication packages and syringes. Must be able to speak and be understood by others in order to communicate effectively. Must be able to hear normal sounds with moderate background noises. Involves rotating shifts. Must work a minimum of 32 hours per week.



Education, Experience and Certifications
 

High School Diploma or GED required; Completion of Pharmacy Technology program associates degree or college degree preferred. 2 years experience within the System as a Pharmacy Tech III or have functioned in a comparable position outside the System for at least 2 years required. Valid certification from PTCB required. IV and Chemo experience preferred, CSPT or other PTCB extra certifications required, leadership experience preferred
