Patient Safety Assistant, Flexible PRN Pool, PRN Nights, Winston-Salem
JOB SUMMARY: Works under the direction of a registered nurse as a non-licensed team member to provide direct observation for patients requiring supervision for safety reasons. Provides basic care to patients as instructed and support to the patient care team. Communicates to the care team any patient issues or needs.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED. Previous experience with patient care preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: HeartSaver CPR required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Ensures a secure and safe patient environment by remaining in the patient room. 2. Obtains any patient care instructions from patient care team. 3. Remains observant of patient activity and behavior and notifies care team of any changes. 4. Notifies care team of any patient requests. 5. Responds as directed by care team to address patient basic care or safety needs. 6. Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to monitor patient safety and react appropriately to environmental safety factors Proficient and appropriate interpersonal and communication skills Ability to respond to emergency or urgent situations Ability to maintain concentration when subject to frequent and varied interruptions and noise levels Ability to interact with patients and care team staff
