Overview
Summary:
The Instructional Designer under the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) department will support instructional design efforts across all Wake Forest University School of Medicine campuses, with a specific focus on the Charlotte campus. This role will collaborate with UME leadership, faculty and staff to create engaging and effective learning experiences by applying instructional design theories and methods. This role involves all phases of Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate (ADDIE) model by analyzing data to understand curriculum needs, designing and developing learning activities and assessments, implementing instructional product with Subject Matter Experts (SME), and evaluating the curriculum product for improvements.
This position will report directly to the Director of Curricular Affairs in the Undergraduate Medical Education Office and will collaborate with other Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFUSM), Atrium Health and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Health leaders, to implement a vision and strategy for the collective academic enterprise with defined goals and outcomes that encompasses measures of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. The candidate will be a team player focused on using data for the greater good of the Wake Forest University School of Medicine – Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s in instructional design, educational technology, instructional technology, or related field with (5) years of related instructional design experience. Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, instructional technology, or related field is preferred. Ability to design functional and technical training is necessary. Ideal candidates will have experience in problem-based, inquiry-based and/or case-based curricula.
