Overview

Job Summary: Assists pharmacists in the preparation of prescriptions, waiting on customers, operation of cash register, inventory monitoring, third party processing, inventory work and clerical assistance. Attends periodic area meetings.  Attends required in services and skills development courses.  Is expected to uphold the hospital’s five key values and to be a team player at all times.  Will be cross-trained for coverage in all retail pharmacy locations and other pharmacy practice settings.  Will be expected to float to all pharmacy locations with possible last minute schedule changes.

How You’ll Impact Patient Care:

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Helps pharmacists prepare and process medication orders to make sure patients and departments get the right medications on time and are charged correctly.
  • Works well with others and organizes daily tasks for maximum efficiency.
  • Helps keep medicine stock in good condition so that quality drugs and supplies are always available.
  • Offers pharmacy services in patient care areas.
  • Takes part in team efforts to improve quality and supports the Pharmacy Department's commitment to Total Quality principles.
  • Keeps knowledge and skills up to date and helps educate others.
  • Sets personal goals to support quality improvement and departmental objectives.
  • Follows hospital standards to create a positive work environment through good communication, relationships, and teamwork.
  • Provides care tailored to different age groups as per Age Specific Care Guidelines.

What You Will Need:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Nice To Have (Not Required):

  • Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technology course preferred.
  • One-year previous pharmacy experience preferred.
  • PTCB technician certification (CPhT) preferred.
  • North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration required within 30 days of employment.
  • PTCB/NHA technician certification (CPhT) within 180 days of employment or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited Pharmacy School.
