Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Health Administration or MBA 
  • Two years management experience required 
  • Medical Technologist (MT) (ASCP) or equivalent registration required

The Successful Candidate will assume responsibility for a variety of functions, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Accepts medical center responsibility for coordinating initiatives and interactions with other departments and the medical faculty. 
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate and state-of-the-art medical practices for one or more disciplines in the department of pathology. 
  • Responsible for maintaining accreditation standards as defined by CAP, JCAHO, AABB, FDA and CLIA. Establishes, interprets and communicates departmental and Hospital policies and procedures. 
  • Generates financial analysis, forecasts, proformas and performance reports. Achieves financial objectives for the department(s). 
  • Coordinates, directs, teaches, and manages process improvement initiatives. Sets priorities in areas of responsibility in support of the organizational goals and targets. Manages staff to accomplish departmental objectives. 
  • Ensures compliance with all laboratory certification requirements as mandated by both internal and external agencies and organizations. 
  • Leads in the development and administration of departmental functions. 
  • Provides management development programs for Section Managers and/or Assistant Managers as in-service education. 
  • Exhibits and promotes the professional image of laboratories in accordance with hospital, department, and professional society philosophies, goals and standards of laboratory testing. 
  • Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
