Overview

Job Summary:

Provides optimal appointment scheduling for patients in an ambulatory clinical setting, ensuring a pleasant and professional experience. Answers phones courteously and processes requests promptly, maintaining accurate and complete messaging regarding appointments.

Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of office or clerical experience in a customer service role.
  • Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, answering phones and using electronic messaging.
  • Medical terminology and Spanish bilingual skills are preferred.
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:
  • Satisfactory score on departmental data entry test.
Essential Functions:
  1. Schedule, update, and cancel appointments using computer programs and guidelines.
  2. Ensure accurate registration data, billing, statistical information, and authorization records.
  3. Coordinate with co-workers to meet departmental work assignments and call rate targets.
  4. Screen calls, deliver messages, document scheduling information, and communicate with clinical departments.
  5. Assist with patient care documentation, insurance documentation, and obtaining referring clinic documentation.
  6. Help develop and implement methods to improve customer service and solve problems.
  7. Act as a courteous liaison between patients, medical staff, and outside agencies, anticipating workflow.
  8. Perform other related duties as assigned.
