Overview

Responsible for assessment, diagnostic, and /or treatment services to any person when so ordered by a physician, dentist, or podiatrist. Treatment is provided through the employment of physical means such as therapeutic exercise, heat, water, electricity, massage, ultrasound, and the use of rehabilitative procedures and devices. Will assist with acute, outpatient, and pediatric populations.

YOU’LL NEED

  • Licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of North Carolina with current licensure.
  • CPR Certification every two years.
  • Valid NC driver's license.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the performance of specialized tests, such as manual muscle testing, goniometry and teaching occupational therapy procedures to the patient, family and other health personnel.
  • Performs both individual and comprehensive evaluations with multidisciplinary team members. Provides written summary of diagnostic findings to be incorporated into team plan.
  • Plans intervention strategies and communicates effectively with families regarding the child's strengths and weaknesses; work may be performed in homes, agencies, preschools or clinics.
  • Provides occupational therapy treatment services including neuro-developmental and sensory motor therapy, developmental stimulation, home programming, equipment demonstration, or other treatment modality to enhance sensory motor functioning and general developmental status.
  • Provides documentation of goals and objectives for therapy as well as the course and progress of interventions with the patient. Participates in IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan) as needed.
  • Participates in chart review of clinical records for quality assurance. Attend relevant workshops and update instruments/tools to ensure most beneficial practices for population served.
  • Attends scheduled staff, CDSA, or other committee meetings as needed.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

  • Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills
  • Contact with patients, family members, visitors, coworkers and medical staff under a wide variety of circumstances
  • Ability to work with infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and older adult patients
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Functions effectively under stressful and difficult situations
  • Ability to work effectively with the team
