Overview

 

JOB SUMMARY: Work as a member of Outpatient Retail Pharmacy team to deliver quality patient care. Activities will include but are not limited to dispensing medications, educating patients, and providing clinical information and expertise to other healthcare professionals. Responsible for operations and customer satisfaction in the pharmacy. Assist in managing the activities of a team of pharmacy technicians. Actively participates in the development and implementation of performance/quality improvement and patient safety activities. Supports Clinical Coordinator in completing initiatives to meet the goals of the area scorecard for productivity, inventory management and service. Travel to all sites and last minute schedule flexibility are required.

How You’ll Impact Patient Care:

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Process medication orders and prescriptions from physicians and nurses.
  • Supervise technicians to ensure timely and accurate medication dispensing, optimizing staff utilization.
  • Deliver pharmaceutical care for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to quality improvement efforts through teamwork.
  • Continuously update and document skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain documentation for compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Set personal goals to support departmental objectives.
  • Provide age-appropriate care following guidelines.
  • Foster a cooperative work environment through effective communication and teamwork.

What You Will Need:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) is required.
  • Current state pharmacist license in good standing through North Carolina Board of Pharmacy is required.

Nice To Have (Not Required):

  • One to two years retail experience is preferred. 
  • Accredited outpatient or ambulatory pharmacy residency experience preferred.
  • Must be a certified immunizing pharmacist.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Must perform the technical duties required quickly and efficiently and be able to rationally cope with urgent situations.  
  • Must be flexible, cooperative and a good listener.
  • Must be committed to excellent customer service, patient safety and teamwork.
