Overview

JOB SUMMARY: 

Supports the Video Producer/Director and Photography Manager by taking photos, shooting, and editing video projects. Collaborates with clients, account managers and creative staff regarding visual concepts and production requirements. Plans, organizes and executes assignments displaying a proficiency of technical, design, vision and communication skills. Uses post-production software to achieve professional quality results. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor's degree in Photography, Video or Journalism with three years' experience in an institutional or corporate environment required. Ability to shoot photography, shoot and edit video, and conduct in-person journalistic interviews required. Healthcare applications preferred. 

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: 

Valid driver's license 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

1. Produces photo and video journalism projects by receiving assignments from the News Media team, transporting equipment to the location, conducting interviews and capturing visuals and sound, editing the file and making changes as requested to communicate the story effectively, usually under short time constraints. 

2. Supports the Photography Manager and Video Producer/Director as needed on video and photo projects by working independently or as an assistant based on workloads and complexity of the assignments. 

3. Prepares video and photo production set or location by transporting equipment and supplies to shoot site; positioning equipment, people and props; setting lighting; placing microphones; monitoring sound levels and quality. 

4. Produces video files by shooting, directing and editing with and without client input; preparing additional graphics, voiceovers and sound as needed; finalizing files. 

5. Ensures photo and video equipment operation by completing preventive maintenance following manufacturer instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, arranging for repairs, and maintaining equipment inventories and supply. 

6. Meets cost standards by measuring and analyzing results, monitoring expenses and keeping expenditures within client budget. Implement cost-saving actions through efficient use of resources. Verifying, completing and approving daily time sheets. Ensuring all work is billed to the appropriate project. Coordinating with the Sr. Digital Producer, Photography Manager and Video Producer/Director to establish and control budgets. 

7. Improves photo and video quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; evaluating improvement opportunities; recommending hardware and software; implementing changes. 

8. Maintains and preserves digital photo and video archives and database by filing files, adding detailed searchable information, updating database and safely backing up database on a regularly scheduled basis. 

9. Maintains Medical Center visual identity by following established photographic principles, standards, guidelines and specifications. 

10. Improves photography, videography and journalistic job knowledge by tracking industry trends; attending educational workshops as budget allows; reviewing professional and technical publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies. 

11. Contributes to the success of the Departmental and entire Medical Center community by embracing change and fostering collegiality to accomplish job results. 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: 

Expert knowledge of a variety of digital photo, video and lighting equipment and techniques Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and related video editing/conversion applications in Adobe Creative Cloud and Apple QuickTime Pro Aptitude in visual design and communications with ability to tell a story using the video medium Proficient in current Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, as well as current Mac design programs, Cumulus Digital Asset Management and Microsoft Office Working knowledge of other Adobe Creative Suite products such as Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, Adobe After Effects, iBook Author and Keynote Working knowledge of video standards for web, DVD, Standard Def, High Def and broadcast quality video Able to shoot and edit medical video including surgery Strong writing and speaking communication and interpersonal skills to be able to interact with Creative Communications staff and a broad spectrum of Medical Center personnel
