  • Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
  • General knowledge of cleaning methods, food service equipment, and food preparation.
  • Ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor.
  • Adherence to safety and sanitation standards.
  • Basic math skills to scale recipes.
  • Basic cooking skills, including safe knife handling and knowledge of standard knife cuts.
  • Ability to demonstrate various cooking methods (grilling, frying, baking, steaming, sautéing, braising).
  • Ability to produce the five mother sauces.
Job Specific Duties
  1. Food Preparation: Cooks food for various areas, adjusts recipes using basic math, ensures compliance with recipes using weight and volume measurements.
  2. Transportation of Goods: Transports items between storeroom, kitchen, retail, and service areas.
  3. Sanitation: Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas; washes dishes by hand or machine.
  4. Quality Control: Assists in recipe testing, uses FIFO rotation, labels and dates food, evaluates food quality, and addresses substandard food.
  5. Professionalism: Maintains professional relationships, adheres to department rules, practices teamwork, and follows Standards of Behavior.
  6. Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Physical and Behavioral Requirements
  • Frequent stooping, walking, kneeling, constant standing, grasping, repetitive motion, and reaching.
  • Medium physical force required (20-50 lbs occasionally, 10-25 lbs frequently, up to 10 lbs constantly).
  • Requires visual acuity and effective communication abilities.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment demands test.
