- Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
- General knowledge of cleaning methods, food service equipment, and food preparation.
- Ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor.
- Adherence to safety and sanitation standards.
- Basic math skills to scale recipes.
- Basic cooking skills, including safe knife handling and knowledge of standard knife cuts.
- Ability to demonstrate various cooking methods (grilling, frying, baking, steaming, sautéing, braising).
- Ability to produce the five mother sauces.
Job Specific Duties
- Food Preparation: Cooks food for various areas, adjusts recipes using basic math, ensures compliance with recipes using weight and volume measurements.
- Transportation of Goods: Transports items between storeroom, kitchen, retail, and service areas.
- Sanitation: Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas; washes dishes by hand or machine.
- Quality Control: Assists in recipe testing, uses FIFO rotation, labels and dates food, evaluates food quality, and addresses substandard food.
- Professionalism: Maintains professional relationships, adheres to department rules, practices teamwork, and follows Standards of Behavior.
- Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned by management.
