Atrium Health Musculoskeletal Institute is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic team in the Orthopedic Urgent Care setting. This role offers an excellent opportunity to practice autonomously while making a significant impact on a new service line. The ideal candidate is quality-driven, experienced in orthopedics, and ready to deliver exceptional patient care. This role provides flexible hours! Atrium Health’s Musculoskeletal Institute (MSKI) is one of the largest Musculoskeletal programs in the country. We have an extensive network of physicians within the institute including spine, ortho, primary care sports medicine, physical medicine, and rehabilitation.

Details about the opportunity:

  • Outpatient setting with independent schedule
  • Full time opportunity with variable rotation hours
    • M-F 5pm-9pm; Saturday 9am-2pm (with rotation)
  • Ability to perform joint and/or fracture reductions, splinting, bracing, casting, orthopedic injections/aspirations, and local wound care.
  • Ability to independently interpret x-rays and advanced diagnostic imaging.
  • No call coverage

Responsibilities:

  • Work independently in the orthopedic urgent care setting, with on-call physician backup.
  • Provide acute orthopedic care to patients ages 14 and older.
  • Staff a minimum of 20 hours per week at Orthopedic Urgent Care.
  • Utilize remaining 20 hours per week flexibly within our float pool, including OR First Assist and daytime clinic duties.
  • No on-call responsibilities, promoting excellent work-life balance.
  • Perform joint and fracture reductions, splinting, bracing, casting, orthopedic injections/aspirations, and local wound care.
  • Independently interpret x-rays and advanced diagnostic imaging.

Schedule:

  • Full-time position with flexible hours. Minimum 20hours/week within OUC setting.
  • Orthopedic Urgent Care hours: Monday to Friday, 5pm-9pm; Saturday, 9am-2pm (with rotation).
  • OR First Assist hours vary.
  • Daytime clinic: 7am-4pm, 8am-5pm
  • No on-call responsibilities, promoting excellent work-life balance.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a Physician Assistant in North Carolina.
  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program; Master’s Degree required.
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required.
  • DEA license required or eligibility.
  • Prescriptive authority through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC, or eligibility.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required, with expiration date greater than 90 days from practice start date.
  • Minimum one year of orthopedic experience required.
  • Nurse Practitioners: Must be Dual credentialed ACNP + ENP/FNP with RNFA
