As a crucial member of our dynamic team, you will play a pivotal role in our Medical Surgical Unit, delivering exceptional healthcare and making a positive difference in patient outcomes. On this unit, you will care for a variety of different Med Surg patients.
Position Highlights:
Sign-on Bonus: $15,000 sign-on bonus eligible position, provided the candidate meets the eligibility requirements!
Shift Schedule: Full time days or nights, 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am, with weekend rotation

What You’ll Need:
- Graduation from accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
- Registered Nurse licensure from the State of North Carolina Board of Nursing
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of hire for Adult Critical Care, Adult ED
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 1 year of hire for Network ED, Peds ED, PICU and NICU, and other areas per unit guidelines
- Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Solid written and oral communication skills
Impact Patient Care:

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Patient/Family Centered Care: Utilize the nursing process to deliver compassionate care, placing patients and their families at the center of every decision. Conduct thorough assessments, develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan interventions, and coordinate care to promote optimal health and wellbeing in accordance with the policies of WFBH.
- Patient Discharge & Referrals: Participates in multidisciplinary discharge planning referrals to hospital and community resources as needed.
- Safe, Therapeutic, and Healing Environment: Create a secure and healing environment by safeguarding patient privacy and ensuring responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior. Embrace technology and equipment to enhance patient and staff safety.
- Effective Communication: Demonstrate excellent communication skills to foster collaboration among the healthcare team, facilitating information sharing throughout the continuum of care. Active participation in our professional practice model and shared governance initiatives will promote teamwork, leadership, and clinical excellence.
- Professional Growth and Accountability: Function effectively in a professional setting by actively participating in peer review, professional development, and adherence to care standards. Exhibit effective team skills, autonomous practice, and critical thinking, acknowledging accountability for actions.
- Point of Care Testing: Performs and maintains competency for point-of-care testing as assigned, waived and or non-waived, ensuring compliance with WFBH policies and with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Patient Advocacy: Act as a passionate patient advocate throughout the continuum of care, advocating for their needs and preferences in all patient settings, including the community.
- Care Management and Clinical Prioritization: Coordinate the effective and efficient delivery of patient care services by applying care management principles. Identify clinical priorities and initiate action to continuously improve patient outcomes.
- Promotion of Healthy Work Environment: Embrace and contribute to our professional practice model through active participation in shared governance, promoting a healthy and supportive work environment. Take personal responsibility for professional growth and development.
