The Wellness RN will work at either an employer-based on-site clinic or one of our Occupational Health locations. The key objective is to develop positive relationships by creating value through onsite protocol-driven care, onsite direct patient care within a clinic setting, health coaching, and education with wellness programming. Some locations may have Occupational Health, and the RN will be responsible for providing first aid and assisting with other occupational and environmental health services as needed. Participation or conducting of ergonomic evaluations, participation in EH&S committees, Wellness programs, and EH&S audits.  The Wellness RN performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the client and the BestHealth for Business department.  Candidate must be able to communicate effectively at all levels throughout an organization and ensure that all business is conducted in a timely, confidential, courteous & professional manner. Travel to clinic and event locations is required. 


  • Associate degree or higher required. 
  • A bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing is preferred. 


  • Current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of North Carolina 
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support required.  
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license required. 
  •  In Wellness settings, the following is preferred: Certified Health Coach. 


  1. Provides patient/family-centered care, acting as partner and adviser, assists and supports patients and families to optimally manage their health care, respecting their culture and values, individual needs, health goals, and treatment preferences 
  2. Applies critical reasoning and astute clinical judgment in order to expedite appropriate care and treatment, especially given that the patient may be present with complex problems or potentially life-threatening conditions.
  3. Facilitates continuity of care using the nursing process, multidisciplinary collaboration, and coordination of appropriate health care services and community resources across the care continuum. Interacts with patients during face-to-face encounters or through various telecommunication strategies, often establishing long-term relationships. 
  4. Applies the provisions of the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses to their own professional obligations and for the patients entrusted to their care. Participates in their own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs, and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings. 
  5. Focuses on patient safety and the quality of nursing care by applying appropriate nursing interventions, such as identifying and clarifying patient needs, performing procedures, conducting health education, promoting patient advocacy, coordinating nursing and other health services, assisting the patient to navigate the health care system, and evaluating patient outcomes. 
  6. Designs, administers and evaluates nursing services within the organization in accordance with relevant federal requirements, state laws and nurse practice acts, regulatory standards, and institutional policies and procedures. 
  7. Performs and maintains competency for point of care testing as assigned, ensuring compliance with WFBH Point of Care policies and with applicable state and federal regulations
  8. Performing physical assessment for regulatory compliance, providing first aid, completing associated scheduling and required recordkeeping, consulting with local management, alerting the company Workers’ Compensation Coordinator of site injuries requiring off-site evaluation/treatment, and notifying local medical facilities of the same
  9. Perform drug testing, Pulmonary function testing, Breath alcohol testing, audiograms, and fit testing
  10. Duties may require recordkeeping, actively participating in safety meetings throughout areas of support, educating employees on health-related topics, and establishing healthy working relationships with employees and site management
  11. Evaluates the employee’s medical condition and ability to perform specific job functions
  12. Recommends medical clearance when results are within guidelines of Medical Director directives and obtain physician concurrence on clearances as required
  13. Make appropriate referrals for those who are not medically cleared while maintaining medical confidentiality
  14. Appropriately document all medical examinations, tests, consultations, and evaluations
  15. Assess injuries and illnesses to determine the need for first aid or referral to a higher level of treatment
  16. Alert the Company designee of injuries before sending patients off-site for treatment
  17. Notify off-site medical facility of injury coming to them for evaluation/treatment
  18. Serve as a resource to employees for personal health issues and concerns
  19. Refer employees to external health and medical agencies for consultation and information regarding specific medical conditions
