Overview
Job Summary
Develops and implements comprehensive cancer focused educational and awareness programming in a community setting. Works closely with internal and external partners to identify and meet cancer education and prevention needs within identified communities in effort to mitigate cancer risk and identify disease at an early, treatable stage. Executes community programming with a specific sensitivity/cultural competence to the unique needs and circumstances of medically underserved populations across the catchment. Builds access equity connections beyond the oncology/health spectrum, through targeted assessment and resource navigation to ensure on one is lost to follow-up.
Essential Functions
Physical Requirements
Works largely in community settings but could include work done in in patient care areas, clinical, and office areas. Work requires walking, bending, standing, and sitting. Must be able to move and transport event materials to community locations as needed. Requires critical thinking skills, concentration, and the ability to respond quickly in stressful situations.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Public Relations, Social Work or Nursing required. 2 years of experience in health education or population health required. Valid state vehicle operator's license. Bilingual Spanish highly preferred.
Patient Population Served
Demonstrates knowledge of the social determinants of health and a commitment to providing resources for medically underserved populations. Demonstrates the skills and competency appropriate to care for the varying ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served. Oncology experience and bilingual skills preferred.
