Overview

The Outpatient Hand Department is seeking a PRN occupational therapist to meet the growing demands for hand therapy.  Certified Hand Therapist preferred but not required.  Qualified candidates will have a strong focus on evidence based practice, exceptional team interaction, time management and communication skills. Qualified candidates must also be knowledgeable and experienced in orthosis fabrication.  

Responsible for assessment, diagnostic, and /or treatment services to any person when so ordered by a physician, dentist, or podiatrist. Treatment is provided through the employment of physical means such as therapeutic exercise, heat, water, electricity, massage, ultrasound, and the use of rehabilitative procedures and devices.

YOU’LL NEED

  • Licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of North Carolina with current licensure.
  • CPR Certification every two years.
  • Valid NC driver's license.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the performance of specialized tests, such as manual muscle testing, goniometry and teaching occupational therapy procedures to the patient, family and other health personnel.
  • Performs both individual and comprehensive evaluations with multidisciplinary team members. Provides written summary of diagnostic findings to be incorporated into team plan.
  • Plans intervention strategies and communicates effectively with families regarding the child's strengths and weaknesses; work may be performed in homes, agencies, preschools or clinics.
  • Provides occupational therapy treatment services including neuro-developmental and sensory motor therapy, developmental stimulation, home programming, equipment demonstration, or other treatment modality to enhance sensory motor functioning and general developmental status.
  • Provides documentation of goals and objectives for therapy as well as the course and progress of interventions with the patient. Participates in IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan) as needed.
  • Participates in chart review of clinical records for quality assurance. Attend relevant workshops and update instruments/tools to ensure most beneficial practices for population served.
  • Attends scheduled staff, CDSA, or other committee meetings as needed.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
