Overview

Job Summary

Supervises and coordinates the job performance of staff. Serves as a liaison and representative of Hospital/Service Line. Provides and maintains clinical and professional competency in the application of the principles of management.



Essential Functions
 

  • Provides effective and coordinated leadership of team members.
  • Participates in the decision-making structures and processes with leadership.
  • Identifies risk management and patient safety issues and assists with investigations as indicated.
  • Assists with and coordinates public relations information.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Participates in and conducts educational programs as necessary.
  • Assists with development of yearly goals and objectives for team members.
  • Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, and orientation of new staff.
  • Manages paid hours and overtime.
  • Provides resource, guidance, and direction for team members as necessary.
  • Navigate and coordinate cardiovascular patient movement.
  • Manage surgical flow from CV OR's
  • Monitor discharge needs and communicate with providers.
  • Interface with CV units at area Atrium Health hospitals.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate spreadsheets/data collection.

Physical Requirements
 

Walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling required. Must lift a minimum of 20 pounds shoulder high. Intact sense of sight, hearing and finger dexterity. Must speak English in good, understandable terms. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and unit conditions and think critically and have the ability to concentrate.



Education, Experience and Certifications
 

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of NC required. 3 years nursing experience including 1 year in management required. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) from AHA required.
