Overview

JOB SUMMARY:  

Manages the operational functions for a specified line of service at one or multiple facilities. Oversees new project and program development, fiscal and budgetary management, capital equipment requirements, planning, physician relations, quality assurance, process improvement, recruitment and retention, and interdepartmental relations to ensure quality, cost effective healthcare services are provided. Provides leadership, guidance, and direction in achieving outcomes consistent with organizational goals and objectives. Supervises staff.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:

Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree in Business or healthcare related discipline or nursing preferred. 5 years cardiovascular specific experience strongly preferred. Experience directing high level clinical, financial, and regulatory managers required.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Ensures adequate operational functioning and oversees regulatory, risk management, and information systems activities.
  • Ensures that operations and employees are in compliance with regulatory standards, and develops systems to continuously monitor the quality, safety, and appropriateness of care and services provided.
  • Assesses, plans, and implements changes as required to achieve optimal outcomes and facilitates staff participation in quality improvement, committee, and governance activities.
  • Allocates resources to meet lab needs.
  • Assumes responsibility for recruitment and retention, interview and selection, development, evaluation, and supervision of qualified clinical, technical and leadership staff.
  • Analyzes requirements for capital equipment and assists in the preparation of justifications and recommendations.
  • Coordinates with clinical engineering for equipment preventive maintenance and recommends repair or replacement of equipment.
  • Reviews financial and other monthly reports to assure efficiency in all operational levels providing summaries to senior management on a regular basis.
  • Supports and monitors applicable research projects.
  • Participates in strategic planning as requested within the division and at the facility and system level.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor’s Degree required; master’s degree preferred. 

Surgical operations experience along with hospital operations in a surgical/procedural specialty highly preferred.

Results-focused individual with program development experience. 

Experience working across multiple sites or facilities and working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.

Strong interpersonal skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Intermittent to rapid pace with high pressure situations, requiring periods of prolonged concentration, and critical thinking. Frequent travel to multiple locations may be required. Work requires walking, standing, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 50 pounds in handling medical equipment and supplies. Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is essential Intact sense of sight, hearing, touch, manual dexterity and good eye hand coordination. Potential exposure to radiation. Confined work area.
