Clinical Nutritionist

Overview

JOB SUMMARY: Outpatient Adult Dietitian manages nutrition therapy for a variety of medical conditions including but not limited to general nutrition, malnutrition, renal disease, nutrition support (tube feeding or TPN). This RD plays an integral role both in-person and virtually by telehealth in our ambulatory clinic. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Human Nutrition, Foods and Nutrition, Biological Sciences, or Dietetics from an accredited institution. Previous clinical dietitian experience preferred.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Registration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Commission on Dietetic Registration required. Active licensure by the NC Board of Dietetics/Nutrition also required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Conducts physical assessments and evaluates patients' nutritional requirements using evidence-based practices.
2. Participates in interdisciplinary clinical rounds and programs to enhance patient care.
3. Stays updated with current literature and guidelines to provide competent nutritional care.
4. Contributes to improving patient outcomes and service quality.
5. Provides nutrition education to various stakeholders.
6. Ensures age-appropriate patient care.
7. Provides appropriate nutritional care for transplant patients.
8. Maintains accurate documentation and adheres to charging standards.
9. Collaborates to enhance clinic productivity.
10. Adheres to hospital and department policies, fostering a cooperative work environment.
11. Demonstrates commitment to customer service and satisfaction.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
• Basic computer proficiency.

• Subject to stressful conditions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, finger and hand dexterity, talking, hearing, seeing.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 100 lbs.
