Position Highlights:

  • Status: Full-time
  • Schedule: Days, two eight hour shifts (7:00am-3:00pm) and two twelve hour shifts (7:00am-7:00pm) per week with weekend and holiday rotation.
  • Location: Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center

Job Summary:

Coordinates the safe and efficient patient placement (under the guidance of the Patient Logistics Team Leader) while maintaining appropriate regionalization of patients. Maintains current and accurate census and medical service cap records. Communicates with charge nurses and unit secretaries on all nursing units to promote optimal bed availability and patient throughput. Gathers and verifies necessary demographic and medical information from sources for the accurate coding of patient information into Admission/Discharge/Transfer (ADT) system for registration and patient placement based on patient class.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent with one-year previous registration/computer/customer service experience. 
  • Previous medical experience preferred. 

Essential Functions: 

  1. Organizes and prioritizes bed assignment activity according to established priorities of patient throughput for the WFBH system (WFBMC, Davie, and Lexington). 
  2. Ensures completeness and accuracy of registration data, accommodation codes, patient class, and physician service caps. 
  3. Facilitates communication related to patient admissions and transfers with all customers. 
  4. Acts professionally as evidenced by collegial relationships and effective written and verbal communication skills. 
  5. Meets established standards through accurate documentation and maintenance of computer input for statistical and governmental purposes (i.e. blocked bed report, PM beds, WQ reports, coding for bed charges, etc.). 

Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Typing or computer related skills (including tele-conferencing) 
  • Medical Terminology Working knowledge of IS (WakeOne, IShare, Forefront) Attention to detail
