FLSA Status: Nonexempt Original Date: July 1999 Last Revision: March 2018 JOB SUMMARY: Ensures a safe environment and efficient operation of the medical facility in compliance with Medical Center policies and JCAHO requirements by performing all activities relating to the safety and security of patients, employees, visitors, hospital buildings, equipment, and grounds. Conducts investigations and completes reports and forms. Provides security services to staff, patients, medical staff, volunteers, and students using knowledge and training provided. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Security, fire, EMS, or Military experience preferred. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Valid North Carolina driver?s license with no restrictions required. Respirator certified within 30 days. I.A.H.S.S. Basic Health Care Security Officer Training Certification required within one year. Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency training to include Security Services Basic Officer Training Program to include subject certification in crisis intervention, pepper foam, handcuffing, etc. Notary Certification within first year. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Patrols and identifies safety hazards and unsafe conditions that could cause injury to people and/or damage to property. 2. Provides security services to help protect people and property against injury or loss. 3. Conducts investigations of safety and security incidents that result in loss or damage to property, potential liability, or violation of PTRP, or state or federal statute. 4. Proficient in fire safety procedures. 5. Provides a wide range of safety/security services and assistance to include patient monitoring activity and access management. 6. Enforcers the parking policy and patrols the facility parking areas/lots/decks to prevent criminal activity and unauthorized parking. 7. Maintains security of high-risk and sensitive areas. 8. Follows established precautions, protocols, and standard operating procedures. 9. Attends all department training required by continuing education. 10. Provides age/developmentally appropriate assistance in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
