Overview
The Department of Anesthesiology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the next Vice Chair for Community and Belonging. The role of the Vice Chair for Community and Belonging will involve developing and fostering a culture of belonging that values diversity in race, gender, and religion. This will include creating strategies across the organization for recruitment, retention, mentoring, and leadership development of highly qualified, talented faculty and trainees. The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity, strong leadership skills, emotional intelligence, empathy, and cultural awareness to help foster an environment of belonging for the long-term recruitment and retention of our faculty.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the point person for all DEI-related departmental initiatives.
- Lead DEI champion committee meetings every other month.
- Coordinate the DEI resident lecture series with residency education leadership.
- Oversee Winston-Salem State University mentoring/clinical shadow programming.
- Aid in underrepresented minority recruitment activities. In collaboration with residency leadership, coordinate, host, and plan the second look diversity weekend, virtual recruitment events, and attend onsite recruitment events at national meetings (ASA, SNMA, LMSA).
- Attend bimonthly WFUSM Office of Justice and Belonging meetings.
Qualifications
- M.D or D.O currently at the rank of associate professor or professor.
- Board eligible or board certified in Anesthesiology or allied field.
- Eligibility for licensure in the state of North Carolina.
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
