Job Summary

Leads the expansion of our Workforce Development Activities for the enterprise by partnering with our Foundations to grow funding sources for programs in the markets we serve. Responsible for workforce alignment with all foundations across system in order to replicate best practices across the enterprise. Creates opportunities for operations and implementation of funding opportunities for the system, enacts grants and funding plans, organizes, and manages all aspects of prospective programs and outcomes.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for reporting grant expansion and relationship building with Bloomberg Philanthropies as a result of the Healthcare Education Initiative. 
  • Responsible for development efforts and relationship building with Foundations across the system. 
  • Manages the post-award phase of the grant’s lifecycle, developing and implementing work plans to execute the activities and expend the funds of the project in accordance with the terms and conditions of the grant award.
  • Directs day to day operations to ensure grant deliverables and outcomes are met, and that work is completed within the established budget and in compliance with reporting requirements, regulations and Atrium’s policies and procedures.
  • Create and implement mechanism of measuring the health systems return on investment related to grant activities and all related workforce development program initiatives and partnerships.
  • Works with Education Leaders to coordinate efforts for pipeline build activities and development efforts as needed
  • Provides guidance for Workforce Development Team Leadership for Grant/Funding opportunities and prioritization across the system
  • Monitors and approves budget expenditures to ensure purchases are appropriate and in compliance with grant requirements. 
  • Responsible for grant/funding planning to aid in the implementation, management and support of system wide and market based programs
  • Primary liaison between market agencies, leaders, stakeholders, and leadership related to grant activities and metrics of success
  • Prepares and submits timely programmatic progress and financial reports in compliance with grant requirements. Submits documentation required for closeout of grant; participates in audit activities, as appropriate. May assist in the grant’s renewal writing, if applicable.
  • Communicates on-going philanthropic plan status, potential issues, and timelines as required.
  • Plans, organizes, and manages all aspects of assigned retrospective, outcome, and prospective projects.
  • Maintains communication as required, to discuss the outcome of any identified opportunities and/or barriers to the successful completion of grant activities.
  • Provides oversight and guidance for all resources associated with grant project or programs.
  • Helps evaluate new and existing strategies and potential opportunities performing cost/benefit analysis.
  • Oversees relationship management procedures. Primary point person for relationship management agreements and functions.
  • Collaborates with HR Centers of Excellence and HR Business Manager(s) to collectively manage initiatives.
  • Responsible for executive reporting of all Workforce Development philanthropic activities and expansion of work.



Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, human resources or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in grant management, fundraising and or donor relations 
  • Proven track record of growing relationships to advance philanthropic revenue and/or grant funding.  Experience in researching, cultivating, and gaining new funding sources
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for internal and external relations.
  • Computer proficiency 
  • Understanding of workforce development programs a strong plus. 

Ability to travel extensively within WI, IL, NC, SC, GA, AL.  Can live anywhere within this area. This role is a grant funded position for a 5 year term with an opportunity to continue beyond that time period.
