Overview

11B - Orthopaedic Trauma provides patient care to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients on a 24-hour basis. It is a 19-bed unit with all private rooms.  The most common diagnoses stem from orthopaedic trauma injuries, and other traumatic injuries requiring surgical intervention.  11B also supports medical overflow when needed and based on capacity, providing care for patients requiring medical interventions, CPOX monitoring and telemetry monitoring.  11B is aligned with the Atrium Health Plan for Nursing and utilizes the Atrium Health Professional Practice Model for the delivery of patient care, the AACN synergy model for care coordination, and Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring as a theoretical framework for nursing practice.

 

Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) is the flagship hospital of Atrium Health, which is distinguished throughout the Southeastern United States for its excellent patient care and medical expertise.

Job Summary

Assists with the clerical duties related to patient care and management of nursing under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, or Charge Nurse.



Essential Functions
 

  • Receives and forwards incoming telephone calls, conveys messages, and responds to requests for information.
  • Ensures the appropriate disposition of laboratory and diagnostic reports.
  • Assembles charts of discharged patients according to format and files all materials in patient records.
  • Orders and monitors unit supplies.
  • Assists the registered nurse with transcription of physician's orders.
  • Assists with obtaining medical records.
  • Enters and ensures accuracy of data into computer.

 

Physical Requirements
 

 

Responsible to work in a safe manner. Work requires walking, standing, lifting, reaching, handling of charts, supplies, and equipment.



Education, Experience and Certifications
 

High School Diploma or GED required. Data entry experience and/or experience in health care preferred.
