Overview
The Department of Internal Medicine is seeking multiple open-rank faculty (MD, PhD, or equivalent) to join their multidisciplinary team of Clinically Embedded Scholars who will help ensure evidence-based innovations are effectively integrated into clinical settings. An embedded scholar conducts operations-aligned research in close collaboration with a clinical department, service line, and/or center/institute with the goal to develop extramurally funded health systems and health care delivery research. In an era where healthcare is evolving at an unprecedented pace, Wake Forest University School of Medicine stands at the forefront of innovation, collaboration, and patient-centered impact. With an unwavering commitment to improving health, elevating hope, and advancing healing, we are shaping the future of healthcare through bolstering our commitment to being a next-generation academic Learning Health System (aLHS). With an increasingly diverse patient population, we are seeking to bridge the gap quicker between scientific discoveries and their practical applications in real-world healthcare settings.
To do this, we are launching faculty searches for Clinically Embedded Scholars, who will be critical to the realization of an effective aLHS. Our department thrives on collaboration, recognizing that solving complex healthcare challenges demands a collective effort. As part of a vibrant academic and clinical environment, we encourage multidisciplinary partnerships that span departments, centers, and institutes, magnifying the impact of patient-centered care that keeps patients safe, promotes healing, and includes, informs, and inspires patients.
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
While the position will primarily focus on research, excellence in healthcare delivery, clinical teaching and mentoring experience will be valued. Clinical responsibilities will be discussed based on the applicant’s interests and needs of the health system, but clinical expectations would be limited. Scholars will be supported by a mix of health system funding and external grants.
