Overview
Job Summary: Provides professional leadership and advanced knowledge in the practice of lactation management. Assesses patient's needs, diagnoses lactation problems, plans and implements intervention, and evaluates outcomes. Conducts prenatal childbirth, breastfeeding, infant CPR, infant care, and sibling classes and evaluates educational outcomes. Provides outpatient care and consultation for families experiencing breastfeeding difficulties. Serves as consultant for physicians and other healthcare providers concerning lactation as it relates to the patient's health.
Specifications: 1. Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare or related field. 2. Certification/License/Registration: If Registered Nurse, current Georgia RN License required. Lactation certification course and exam must be completed within one year of accepting position. Completion of mother/infant unit orientation. CPR certified. 3. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of work experience in clinical healthcare setting.
